Yes. The 9" serrated edge, designed in partnership with baker Nancy Silverton, glides through tough sourdough crust while preserving soft interiors. For how to slice sourdough with the Made In bread knife, use long, gentle sawing strokes and let the serrations do the work—no downward pressure needed.
Hand wash and dry immediately. The Made In bread knife is not dishwasher safe—dishwasher detergents and jostling can dull the serrated edge and damage the handle.
Compared to mass-market bread knives, the Made In knife offers French forging, full tang construction, and a chef-collaborated serration pattern at a mid-premium price. Against German and Japanese serrated knives costing $90–$150, it delivers comparable forging quality at a lower sale price of $56.65.

I bake two loaves a week and this knife finally does them justice. Thick crackly crust, soft open crumb — it slices through without compressing a thing. The Nancy Silverton design details are thoughtful, and the handle is comfortable for long bakes of slicing. Honestly transformed my bread experience.
Every other bread knife I owned sawed and squished my sourdough. This one glides. The serrations are aggressive enough for crust but gentle enough on the interior. Wish I'd bought it years ago.
Cuts beautifully through crusty loaves and even ripe tomatoes. My only note is that for very wide boules, a 10-inch blade would give more clearance. The 9-inch handles most loaves fine though. Excellent steel and balance.
Best bread knife I've ever owned.
My sister and I both bake and I ordered two of these after seeing Nancy Silverton's involvement. Neither of us has had a single complaint. Clean slices through sourdough, brioche, even day-old baguettes. The full tang heft gives it a confidence-inspiring feel.
The cutting performance is excellent, no arguments there. But the truffle black handle gets a bit slippery when my hands are floury or damp. I'd love a little more texture. Otherwise a very well-made knife that's holding its edge nicely after a couple months.
I follow several bread baking communities and this knife comes up constantly. Now I understand why. Sawing through a fresh country loaf feels effortless and the slices come out picture-perfect for toast. Great gift for the baker in your life.
Does exactly what a good bread knife should. Serrations are sharp and evenly ground. It's also surprisingly good for tomatoes and melons. Docked a star because it's a bit heavier than my old knife, though the weight does help it cut.
After forty years of cooking I finally splurged on proper knives. This bread knife reminds me of the ones we used in the bakery I worked at briefly in the 80s, only nicer. It's a pleasure to use and I'm sure my grandkids will be using it someday too.
I hand wash and dry immediately like the care card says, but I still found a small rust spot near the spine after about five weeks. Cutting performance is great, so maybe mine was sealed oddly. Contacting support.
Crusty ciabatta, no crush. Sticky rye, no drag. Frozen-ish banana bread, no tearing. This thing handles everything I throw at it. The nitrogen treatment seems to be keeping the edge true — months in, still sharp.
