Straight-down chopping with no rocking: uniform onion and pepper dice, cucumber ribbons, shredded cabbage, squash cubes, and herb chiffonade. The 6.38" straight edge makes full board contact, and the 1.83" tall blade scoops cut produce off the cutting board in one sweep.
Hold the handle with the flat blade vertical, chop straight down with a smooth push stroke, and use a claw grip on your guide hand. The tall blade keeps knuckles clear during bulk meal prep.
Weeknight stir-fry prep, salad and slaw volume work, meal-prep dicing, root vegetable breakdown, and precise julienne garnishes.
At $56.65 vs. $119.00 you save $62.35 (52%). Coupon EDGE10 stacks another 10% off, and orders over $45.00 ship free — this purchase qualifies. Comparable Japanese nakiris at this forge quality cost twice as much.
Versus a chef knife, the straight nakiri edge yields more uniform vegetable cuts with less effort. Versus stamped nakiris, this fully forged, full tang blade holds its edge far longer. Handle colorways — Truffle Black, Pomme Red, Olive Wood — share the identical blade; choose by style at the same sale price.

This is the knife I reach for every single day. The Truffle Black handle is understated and handsome, and the blade is a dream for vegetable work. I can slice a zucchini into paper-thin rounds without any effort. The full tang construction gives it a planted, confident feel. Edge retention after two months has been excellent with a quick hone. If you cook a lot of plant-forward meals, buy it.
Perfect balance, perfect edge. No notes.
Bought it on sale and it's honestly underpriced for French-forged steel. It excels at dicing onions, slicing mushrooms, and chopping herbs cleanly without bruising. My only mild complaint is it doesn't do well with anything bony or hard, but that's just nakiri design, not a flaw. Pair it with a chef's knife and you're set.
Had a budget nakiri for years and the difference is night and day. The steel is harder, the edge is sharper, and the fit and finish are on another level. Butternut squash used to require real effort; now it's almost too easy. The black handle also hides stains better than my old light-wood one.
Quality is undeniable — sharp, well finished, comfortable. I just find I reach for my santoku more because the santoku's slight curve suits my cutting style. If you strictly push-cut vegetables, the nakiri is great. Personally it's become my second knife rather than my first.
We trained on nakiris in my Japanese knife skills class and I've wanted a quality one ever since. This one delivers. The flat profile forces good technique, and my uniform dice has never been better. Nitrogen treatment means I don't worry about acid etching from onions and citrus. Feels like a knife that will outlive me.
Thin blade, clean cuts, zero wedging in carrots. Amazing knife.
The forward balance actually helps with chopping but took a week to adapt to. Once adjusted, I love it. Slices ripe tomatoes thin enough to read through. Hand wash only and dry it, treat it right and it'll last forever.
Bought the olive wood for myself, loved it, and got this black version for my brother. He texts me about it constantly. The Truffle Black looks sleek in his modern kitchen. Same excellent blade as mine. Made In has earned a repeat customer.
Gave this to my father-in-law who fancies himself a grill-and-veggie guy. He called me mid-week to say it's the sharpest knife he's ever owned. The packaging was gift-worthy too. Considering grabbing one for myself now.
