My old block set finally gave up and this Global set is a different universe. The Asian chef's knife is my daily driver now — razor sharp, balanced, and the edge holds through weeks of cooking. The shears are surprisingly robust too. At $95 instead of $300 it's honestly a bargain.
No complaints on sharpness or steel quality — CROMOVA 18 holds a great edge. The seamless handles take a few meals to get used to since there's no traditional bolster or grip texture. Once you adapt, they're excellent.
I've wanted Globals since cooking school in the 2000s and finally pulled the trigger on this set. The Kiritsuke utility is the star, slicing tomatoes paper thin, and the paring knife is nimble for trimming and peeling. The block looks sleek on my counter. Zero maintenance complaints after three months.
Sharp, well balanced, nice block. But the hollow handles might not suit people with larger hands, and they can feel less secure when wet. Test the grip style if you can before buying.
