Tramontina Ceramaware 5 Quart Ceramic Nonstick Covered Dutch Oven with Tempered Glass Lid

I was skeptical of a $16 Dutch oven, but this thing has handled everything I've thrown at it for three months now. Chili, chicken soup, beef stew, even a no-knead bread experiment. The ceramic nonstick means burnt-on rice at the bottom wipes right out instead of requiring an overnight soak. The glass lid fits snugly and lets me peek without losing heat. Five quarts is genuinely roomy — I feed a family of five with leftovers. I've already recommended it to two coworkers.

Arthritis in my hands made my old cast iron Dutch oven a struggle to lift, so this ceramic one has been a relief. Still holds heat well for stews and the cleanup is dramatically easier. The tempered glass lid feels sturdy and the handles stay cool on the stovetop. Excellent buy.

The nonstick coating is legitimately slippery — even caramelized onions release with barely a scrub. Heats evenly on my glass stovetop with no hot spots. The lid has a little steam vent which prevents boil-overs. For sixteen dollars this outperforms pans I've paid four times as much for.

Cooks beautifully and cleanup is effortless. My only note is that the exterior enamel has picked up a couple of scuff marks from my grates. Doesn't affect performance at all.

Six months in and the coating still releases eggs and sauces like new. Big enough for a doubled soup recipe. Hand wash it and don't use metal utensils and it should last.

Nice size and the nonstick is real, but I scorched a roux on medium-high and the bottom browned slightly. It's a medium-heat pot through and through. Works great for simmering, just temper your expectations for searing.

First real pot I've owned and it makes me feel like an adult. One-pot pasta, ramen upgrades, even a whole roast chicken fit in it. Nothing sticks, ever.

The 5 quart capacity is honest — I made a big batch of minestrone with room to spare. Glass lid is heavy and seals well. Arrived quickly and well packed. Would buy again.
