The Global UKON GUS-22 6" Serrated Utility Knife is a lightweight Japanese stainless utility knife with a serrated edge built for tough exteriors and soft interiors - crusty breads, delicate tomatoes, and everyday kitchen tasks. Made in Japan from premium CROMOVA 18 stainless steel, it's on sale now for just $55.23 versus the $114.95 compare-at price. Buy online at Honed Edge Cutlery and stack coupon EDGE10 for an extra 10% off.
Serrated edges hold their sharpness far longer than plain edges, so frequent sharpening isn't needed. When it is time, use a tapered ceramic or diamond sharpening rod matched to the scallop width, working each serration individually from the beveled side. Avoid pull-through sharpeners designed for straight edges - a few minutes of rod work restores the bite for years more service.
CROMOVA 18 (Chromium, Molybdenum, Vanadium) is Global's exclusive stainless formula, ice-tempered to hold a razor-sharp edge longer than ordinary steels. The one-piece construction means no handle-to-blade gap to trap food or bacteria.
The ambidextrous thumb rest and dimpled handle suit left- and right-handed users; the lightweight build fits small hands and professional lines alike.
Versus a bread knife: shorter and more nimble for everyday utility tasks. Versus budget serrated knives: CROMOVA 18 steel and Japanese craftsmanship mean dramatically better edge retention. Pair it with Global chef's knives for a matching set.

Use a tapered ceramic or diamond sharpening rod sized to the scallops, working each serration from the beveled side. The CROMOVA 18 steel holds its edge exceptionally long, so sharpening is infrequent.
Yes - at $55.23 it handles bread, tomatoes, and utility cutting in one nimble knife, making it a smarter value than buying separate serrated tools.
6" serrated CROMOVA 18 stainless blade, ergonomic dimpled handle with ambidextrous thumb rest, made in Japan as part of the Global UKON series.

Slices tomatoes paper thin without crushing them. Super lightweight and the dimpled handle keeps it from slipping even with wet hands.
I've owned Global knives for over a decade and this serrated utility lives up to the name. The CROMOVA 18 steel holds its edge through months of daily sandwich and bread duty. Ambidextrous handle works fine for me as a lefty, which is a rare treat.
Sharp, light, and balanced. Serrations are aggressive enough for crusty bread but still fine enough for tomatoes and citrus. Docking one star only because it stains slightly if you leave acidic fruit on the blade.
It's a well-made knife, no complaints on quality. I just find I reach for my chef's knife more often than expected. The serrations limit what you can do with it — fine for bread and tomatoes, less so for general prep.
Bought this for lunch prep and my teenage daughter immediately claimed it for her own sandwiches. It's razor sharp, feather light, and the one-piece construction means no place for gunk to hide. Buying another.
At half off list this was a no-brainer. Slices sourdough cleanly with barely any crumbs. The steel is genuinely Japanese quality and it still looks new after a couple months in the drawer.
