Tramontina Mesa 3.5 Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid, Gradated Red

I have always wanted a Dutch oven but couldn't justify the price of the big-name ones. This Tramontina Mesa in gradated red is gorgeous — I actually leave it on the stove just to look at it. It sears chicken thighs beautifully, holds heat evenly, and the lid fits tight enough that braises come out incredibly tender. The enamel is smooth and cleans up with minimal scrubbing. For $29.98 this is an absolute steal.

Right out of the box it was ready to cook. Made a beef stew the first night and the crusty bits came off easily. Love it.

The 3.5 quart is ideal for my husband and me — big enough for soups and small roasts without being a beast to lift. The color is richer in person. Very happy.

Cooks evenly and the enamel finish is flawless, but the lid doesn't sit as snugly as I expected, so steam escapes more than I'd like for rice. Fine for stews and braises though. Decent value at half off.

I'm 68 and I've cooked in cast iron my whole life. This enameled pot does everything my old Le Creuset friend's does at a fraction of the price. Bread comes out with a beautiful crust, and nothing sticks. I bought a second one for my daughter.

It's cast iron so yes, it's heavy, but that's what makes it cook so well. Oven-safe and handles high heat with no issues. Enamel has held up through a dozen cooks so far.

This thing lives on my stove from October to March. Chili, minestrone, curries — all perfect. Clean-up is genuinely easy.

Bought this for my daughter's first apartment and she uses it constantly. Excellent quality for the price, and the red is a lovely deep shade.

The pot cooked beautifully for about three weeks, then the enamel chipped near the rim while I was washing it. Maybe I was unlucky, but for a $60 list price item I expected better durability. Customer service was responsive, at least.
