Fill the pot with water (about 4–5 quarts for a full pound of pasta), bring to a boil, and lower the locking strainer insert filled with pasta. When done, lift the insert and let the water drain back into the pot — no colander, no spills. The strainer also steams vegetables, seafood, and shellfish over the same pot.
Use roughly 4 quarts per pound of pasta, leaving headroom for a rolling boil.
Yes — add 1–2 inches of water, load the strainer insert with vegetables or seafood, cover with the glass lid, and steam.

The locking strainer is genius — lift the insert, pasta drains right in the pot, no separate colander to wash or boiling water pouring over your wrist. It's my favorite weeknight upgrade. Works on my induction burner too. Six quarts is plenty for a family of four.
Solid tri-ply feel, heats evenly, and the strainer insert is sturdy with no wobble. Only nitpick is the glass lid sits slightly loose, so I hold it when pouring off water from blanching vegetables. Otherwise an excellent pot at half the price of the big brands.
Locking strainer works great. No more colander clutter.
The build quality is genuinely nice and it cooks pasta well. But loaded with six quarts of water and pasta, the whole thing is heavy, and lifting the insert to drain takes two hands for me. If you have wrist issues, consider that. Otherwise no complaints.
I bought this for pasta but it's become my shrimp and corn boil pot. The insert lifts out and all the seafood stays behind while the water drains — no fishing around with a slotted spoon. Stainless still looks brand new after a dozen uses. Induction compatible was a must for me and it works perfectly.
For the sale price this is hard to beat. The 18/10 steel cleans up nicely, even after tomato sauce, and the strainer locks in securely so nothing slides around. Boiling vegetables and draining them in one motion saves real time. Recommended.
The pot itself is fine, but on mine the strainer insert rattles and the locking mechanism doesn't engage cleanly. Had a near-miss pouring off water. Maybe I got a dud, but I expected better fit at this brand.
