I've been cooking professionally for 12 years and these Globals hold their own against knives twice the price. The one-piece steel construction means no handles to come loose, and the 6" chef's knife is perfect for my smaller hands. The paring knife is my new go-to for shallots and garlic. Can't beat it at this price.
Took a few weeks to get used to how light these are compared to my old German knives. Once I adjusted, I actually prefer them for everyday prep. The serrated utility handles tomatoes beautifully. Only wish is that the set came with a block or sheaths.
Bought this set for my daughter who just moved into her first apartment. She calls me every week raving about how well they cut. The balance is lovely and they feel like quality in the hand. I may order a set for myself too.
The quality is there for sure — they cut cleanly and clean up easy. Just note that the 6" chef's knife is noticeably smaller than the 8" I'm used to. Fine for small kitchens or quick jobs, but I grab something bigger for butternut squash and the like.
Disappointed that the serrated knife had a small chip in one of the teeth right out of the box. Customer service was responsive and shipped a replacement quickly, and the replacement has been fine. Knocking stars off for the QC slip.
